Megan works with the University’s senior leadership and in close collaboration with other campus communications staff to lead communications strategy, planning, and execution related to major announcements and initiatives that cross multiple areas of the University. Her work ensures that messages related to University strategy, leadership appointments, the launch of new programs, and changes to University policies and practices, among others, are well coordinated and well managed. Megan also assists with research projects, event planning, and preparation of briefings and background materials for the Vice President for Communications. As Chief of Staff, Megan provides high level coordination for a range of administrative activities such as recruitment and onboarding of new staff, departmental finances and budget oversight, support and materials development for the Board of Trustees External Relations Committee (in collaboration with the Office of Civic Engagement). She serves as a representative for University Communications on various committees and working groups focused on communications support and planning for major university administrative initiatives.
Megan joined the University of Chicago in 2009 in the office of the Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer where she coordinated institutional communications efforts across seven different administrative units. Before working at the University, Megan spent 11 years working in various roles at the Illinois Department of Human Services. She holds a master’s degree in organizational communications from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Illinois.
