Steve oversees the University News Office, acts as University spokesman on institutional issues, and consults with leaders and communicators around the University to help shape comprehensive communications plans and major announcements. His areas of focus include new academic initiatives, the University’s international efforts, civic engagement, University finances, real estate, emergency communications, major gifts, and more. Steve joined the University in 2008 after 21 years as a newspaper reporter, columnist, and editor, the last 12 of them at the Chicago Tribune. He and his wife, Lori, live in Chicago and have two sons.
